A Hot Second Half Start

Crawford hitting it out of the park for a grand slam!

After the Giants killed it at the All Star game they continued their dominance and began the second half of the season winning 7 of their first 9 games.  They began by sweeping the Houston Astros at home, if the Astros didn’t have to play us ever again I think they’d be relieved, and then the Giants went on the road to face the Braves and the Phillies where they took 2 out of 3 games from each team.  The team has been able to get off to such a hot start after the All Star break because of their pitching and the bats of The Melk Man, Buster, and Crawford…. yes you heard me right, Brandon Crawford.

GIANT All Stars

Melky Cabrera with his MVP trophy

The week leading up to the All Star game that was in the home of the Kansas City Royals there was a lot of negative talk about the Giants having 3 positions players and a pitcher start for the National League.  Well as soon as the game got underway on Tuesday night all of that talk came to a screeching halt as Posey, Sandoval, Cain, and Cabrera all had huge games and were the main reasons why the National League killed the American League 8-0.

Do You Feel Perfect?! Cuz I Feel Perfect!!

Cain’s teammates celebrating with him after his perfect game

I work in the Coca-Cola Fan Lot at AT&T Park and Wednesday was just like any other day, or so I thought.  As my co-workers and I were getting ready to start the night we were expecting a good game with Cain on the hill, but nothing like what we saw.  Cain wasn’t the only one on fire for the Giants on the night of June 13th, which will go down in history forever, the offense was also ready to go.

Goin Yard!

Blanco during his home run trot with third base coach Tim Flannery

Going into today’s game the series versus the San Diego Padres was all tied up at 1 game a piece.  The Giants have been on a roll as of late and wanted to steal the last game from the struggling San Diego Padres.  And who better to give the Giants that chance other than their own Matt Cain? No one.  Cain pitched 7 innings giving up 3 unearned runs, due to our continuous bad play in the field.  But thankfully to our big bats that came out swinging today that didn’t matter.  Posey, Pagan, and Blanco all went deep in the game and the Giants ended up taking the win 8-3 and also the series in San Diego. Grab Some Pine Meat!

Cain in the throwback uniforms from 1912

On Friday June 1st the Giants started a four game series versus the Chicago Cubs.  To get the weekend started on a positive note Theriot and Posey both knocked in runs in the first inning and Cabrera continued his hot streak from May by knocking in a run in the 3rd along with Posey, his second of the night.  That’s all Madison Bumgarner would need as he threw 8 solid innings of no run baseball.  “Mad Bum” has been pitching lights out with 11 strikeouts his last outing and a 6-4 record on the season. Wilson Gnome

The Giants family was sad to hear about Brian Wilson, their one-of-a-kind closer, going on the disabled list for the entire 2012 season, but the one bright spot is we get to see him take the mic with Kruk & Kuip!  This Sunday as we finish up the series versus our Bay Area rival the Oakland A’s we not only get to listen to Wilson in the booth, but we also get Wilson gnomes!  If you are as excited about this as I am you better catch the game on CSN Bay Area Sunday afternoon at 1:05 local time.

What’s Wrong With Timmy?!

It was no surprise to Giants fans when Tim Lincecum got off to a rough start to begin the 2012 season, it’s how he usually begins the year, but to be struggling this far into May has the whole Giants community on their toes.  He finally seemed to be getting on track Tuesday versus the Rockies until one bad inning where he gave up 3 runs, he ended his day going 7 innings and getting the no decision.  Giants fans are holding their breath when Timmy makes his next start on Sunday versus our Bay Area rival the Oakland A’s to kick off inter league.
