As all Giants fans know the long ball isn’t our specialty, but earlier this week while visiting Miller Park and the Brewers the Giants came out swinging! To get the series started on a positive note Hector Sanchez had a pitch hit home run in the top of the 14th to send the Giants back to the hotel with a victory and Posey had a home run in each of the first two games. The rookie infielder Arias also went deep in game two for his first ever career round tripper! Hopefully the Giants can keep the bats hot as they head into Miami for the first time this season to face the Marlins in four games and see the new ballpark.
The Giants family was sad to hear about Brian Wilson, their one-of-a-kind closer, going on the disabled list for the entire 2012 season, but the one bright spot is we get to see him take the mic with Kruk & Kuip! This Sunday as we finish up the series versus our Bay Area rival the Oakland A’s we not only get to listen to Wilson in the booth, but we also get Wilson gnomes! If you are as excited about this as I am you better catch the game on CSN Bay Area Sunday afternoon at 1:05 local time.
On Monday the Giants celebrated their 100 consecutive home sellout dating back to the 2010 season when they won the World Series. All around the Giants organization players and staff alike shared their enthusiasm for the continuous fan support. Keep it up Giants fan’s, we still have a long way to go to catch up to the Boston Red Sox as they approach 800 consecutive sellouts this season! 😀
It was no surprise to Giants fans when Tim Lincecum got off to a rough start to begin the 2012 season, it’s how he usually begins the year, but to be struggling this far into May has the whole Giants community on their toes. He finally seemed to be getting on track Tuesday versus the Rockies until one bad inning where he gave up 3 runs, he ended his day going 7 innings and getting the no decision. Giants fans are holding their breath when Timmy makes his next start on Sunday versus our Bay Area rival the Oakland A’s to kick off inter league.
The Say Hey Kid isn’t just known in San Francisco, but all around the baseball world. And today over 41,000 fans at AT&T Park had the honor of celebrating Willie’s 81st birthday with him. He is a baseball legend that has had such a powerful impact on the game and will always be known for his basket catches and being able to cover a ridiculous amount of ground in the outfield. Right when it looked like the Giants were getting back on track versus the Padres they got swept by the Miami Marlins at home. Injuries definitely didn’t help, but the Giants are in a hitting slump similar to the one that ended their seaon early last year. This weekend the Brewers are coming to the Bay where they have to face the meat of our pitching staff, Lincecum, Bumgarner, and Cain. Click here to buy tickets for this weekend’s series versus the Milwaukee Brewers.
First Brian Wilson goes down for the whole year, and now Pablo Sandoval is back on the disabled list. Last year it was his hamate bone in his right hand that kept him out of the game for six weeks, and as the baseball Gods would have it this time around it’s his hamate bone in his left hand! The Giants try to stay positive will all these set backs, but i can’t help but wonder if this is the beginning of the end for the 2012 season?!
